La Liga Star Expects Arsenal To Re-Sign Him This Summer

Carlos Vela has again spoken out on a possible return to Arsenal this summer and told press that the Gunners would not be very ‘intelligent’ if they failed to sign him. Vela has a £3.3million buy-back clause inserted in his contract that Arsene Wenger can choose to activate at any time. There’s no denying that the price is a big plus for a player who has 19 goals and 13 assists this season, playing predominately on the wing, an excellent return.

Vela told press: “During the last two summers, Arsenal were not interested in activating it, so we had no trouble, it makes sense they will activate the clause now. A club that sees that a player is performing well for three years and has the chance of having him back for just an extra few million. If Arsenal wouldn’t pay that amount they wouldn’t be very intelligent. ”

His versatility is attractive, as a player who can play on the last man and be played through, or as a more creative winger, whether it be on the left, or an inverted one, and he would offer an upgrade on Sanogo as backup for Giroud, who looked in need of a rest towards the end of March. His finishing has improved much since his Arsenal days, when a delicate chip was his trademark, but he frustrated fans with his profligacy; all change this season, scoring 14 league goals from 61 shots, a fine record. His fitness record is near impeccable this season, playing 34 of Sociedad’s 35 league games this season. Additionally he has the benefit of knowing the club, and he’s definitely come on a lot since he left Arsenal, as a player, especially with his decision making and movement.

Vela added: “Arsenal gave me the opportunity to come to Europe when I was 17. I didn’t have as many opportunities as I expected and I had to try new chances. If I have to return to London, I will try to make things in a different way in order so that happened in the past won’t be repeated again.

“Now I speak English. I know what I would find there and what I won’t, so I could handle my return in a different way. But today, I don’t know if I am going to return or not, we will see, it’s a matter of time.”

“The happiness that I feel in San Sebastian will play an important role in my decision. I seek the best, not only for me but also for Arsenal,” Vela told El Diario Vasco. The Gunners are the owners of my rights. It’s a decision that must be taken with plenty of calm.

“Regarding a future deal, there are three parts and if they don’t reach an agreement, there will be problems and it will be difficult to solve.

“We have to find a solution that convinces the three part of this negotiation. Obviously, the opinion of the player is always important, because if I am not happy in a new destination it will be difficult to perform well.”

Vela would make a good signing for Arsenal. He’s matured and has an impressive goal record for a 25-year-old. . For £3.3 million he could make a good squad player, aswell as a great bargain for Arsenal; being able to play anywhere along the front line.  He would provide a different option when the Gunners are all out of ideas. Overall, this could quite turn out to be a brilliant signing for the North London club.
