2. William Carvalho
Little was known of this destructive midfield player over a year ago, but he really came to prominence last term with some domineering midfield displays for Sporting Lisbon. Solid in possession and a brilliant tackler, good at breaking up the play, Carvalho could be the ideal holding midfielder to play alongside Ramsey.
At 22 he has a bright future ahead, and although unproven at the top-level, his forcefulness and power would strike fear into opponents. For a long time Arsenal have been seen by opposition as weak and easy to break down if you get stuck in. Carvalho though would provide a strong backbone in the Arsenal midfield, he loves a tackle and is very efficient at starting attacks from a deep-lying position so a possible move could be on the cards. The only problem is the rumoured price (believed to be around £20 million) and the fact that he is inexperienced on the big stage and would need time to settle before having a major impact.
