Arsenal all but secured their Champions League spot next year with a 3-1 victory over Hull City, that kept the Tigers in relegation bother. A decisive first-half from the Gunners proved to be enough, as they extended their unbeaten record in the Premier League to 10 games.
Here’s our player ratings for the Arsenal squad last night.
David Ospina: 6
Dealt with some early pressure but didn’t have too much to do. Couldn’t keep a clean sheet, perhaps should have been more alert for the goal- but that’s being very critical.
Hector Bellerin: 8
Lightning quick-pace caused Hull City problems all evening and he showed his class once again. Easy to see why Barcelona are reportedly interested.
Per Mertesacker: 6
Not his busiest day, also not his best. Strong in defence, lucky not to be booked.
Laurent Koscielny: 6
Solid throughout and was unlucky to concede a goal, as he was fouled in the build-up. Was one of the many incidents Lee Mason missed.
Francis Coquelin: 7
Was brilliant in the early stages to quell Hull City attacks, which eventually led to Arsenal taking the front foot and pulling themselves ahead.
Santi Cazorla: 9
Another fantastic game from the Spaniard, kept the midfield flowing and provided a fantastic assist for Aaron Ramsey. Arsenal need him.
Aaron Ramsey: 7
Showed some of the form from last season, with a great goal and a decent assist for Alexis Sanchez’ second of the night.
Alexis Sanchez: 8
Scored his 15th and 16th goals of the season in the Premier League and his fourth of the year against Hull. Running out of superlatives to describe the Chilean.
Olivier Giroud: 7
Did a decent forwards job, creating space and dealing with a battering from the defenders. Positive display.
Substitutes
Jack Wilshere: 6
Had a twenty minute run out and showed his best performances of the season. Could be crucial for the Gunners this month.
Theo Walcott: N/A
Barely enough time to make an impact. His Twitter account tweeted a controversial message, just before he came on. Illuminati confirmed.
