Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been full of praise for new signing Alexis Sanchez, calling him world class and comparing him to Luis Suarez.
Sanchez scored two goals for Arsenal against Sunderland to help them to only their third win of the season in the Premier League. The win was crucial, but it was clear to see that Alexis was central to the win.
Chamberlain was full of praise for his new team-mate and said: “He’s a world-class player — everyone saw that at the World Cup.
Arsenal did of course try and sign Luis Suarez the previous summer, but were unsuccessful after infamously bidding £40,000,001 for his services. The following summer Sanchez left Barcelona for £30million to make way for Suarez (£75million) who joined the Spanish outfit.
“He reminds me of Luis Suarez when he chases everything down and he makes nothing into something. He added.
“He’s done that for us twice and he’s scored goals at important times for us.”
Chamberlain is right, he certainly is important for us. Without him I’m not sure if we’d have any points to be honest. The other players, including Chamberlain himself – need to step up.
With Chelsea drawing, the Gunners now sit nine points off the league leaders, and will hope they can gain further ground with their easier run of fixtures to come.
