Four games to go, plus the FA Cup final- and there’s the growing feeling that next year could actually be the year when Arsenal end their Premier League hoodoo and lift the trophy for the first time since 2004. What a fitting end to what would be Wenger’s 20th year in charge of Arsenal.
That’s all down to signings though, as we need more players on board- and things are busy regarding Arsenal.
Wenger Confirms Three Arrivals (Express)
Arsene Wenger has confirmed three new(ish) faces to the Arsenal squad this summer, as he confirmed the return of three on-loan players. Interestingly, his comments suggest that the trio would be kept- not sold like many reports state.
Lukas Podolski, Yaya Sanogo and Joel Campbell are all currently loaned out but will return this summer. Where their future remains is anyone’s guess though- and none of the trio will inspire fans, as it’s difficult to argue that they could be the missing links to Arsenal’s puzzle.
Still, they are three talented players who have all impressed- now to kick on in an Arsenal jersey, on indeed sell them to make way for incoming deals.
Arsenal To Swoop For Ligue 1 Duo (Telegraph)
Arsenal are eying a double swoop for Ligue 1 stars Nabil Fekir and Aymen Abdennour this summer, if reports are to be believed.
Fekir is a player who has been mentioned with Arsenal a lot and at 21-years-old, the winger has a bright future ahead of him. Whilst he may not be the player Gunners fans wants from Lyon, ala Alexandre Lacazette, he would be a decent addition- but where would he fit in immediately?
The same can be said for Aymen Abdennour, who showed Arsenal his talents whilst helping Monaco knock us out of the Champions League. A good squad player, yes, but better that what we already have? Hard to tell.
We’ll draft this under ‘intense speculation’. Throw enough darts and something will hit…
African Billionaire Wants To Buy Arsenal (Bloomberg)
Arsenal have no problem attracting prospective buyers and the latest news is that Africa’s wealthiest man, a Nigerian by the name of Aliko Dangote, is intent on buying the North London giants in the future.
Dangote, who was rebuffed in his attempt in 2010, is worth more than current majority shareholders Stan Kroenke and Alistair Usmanov. A huge Arsenal fan, the dream for Dangote is to become the chief owner.
This may appeal to Arsenal fans as Kroenke is notoriously tight-pocketed, secretive and absent- so a more public figure may appeal. However, having a ‘huge fan’ as chief has it’s drawbacks. Imagine if we gave Twitter supporters the power…
Dybala Future Decided In Next Three Weeks (Quotes)
The future of highly-rated Palermo striker Paulo Dybala is set to be decided in the next three weeks, according to quotes from the Italian clubs president.
Arsenal are amongst a host of clubs said to be chasing the impressive 21-year-old, who’s future will be decided ‘in 10, or a maximum of 15 days’.
Arsene Wenger faces stiff competition for the player so there’s a long way to go just yet- but we’ll be keeping our eyes out for developments in the coming weeks.
