Gossip: Arsenal In Talks With La Liga Duo And Prepare Bids For Cardiff And Man City Players

As the season draws to a close, the gossip begins. We will be bringing you an Arsenal filtered gossip column throughout the summer. Today reports suggest Arsenal are set to bid for David Marshall and are in talks for Cesc Fabregas and Griezmann. See all the Arsenal transfer news in our Gossip Column.

Arsenal are set to bring back Cesc Fabregas to the Emirates this summer after he was put up for sale (Mirror). At the moment we are blessed with attacking midfield options and adding another one to the collection may stunt the progress of others. Some will say that because many of these players are often injured then there is a need for more attacking options, as we struggled to create goals last season when the likes of Ozil, Ramsey and Chamberlain were out. It’s hard to say no to Fabregas, we will see how this one develops.

Arsenal are in talks to sign Antoinne Griezmann from Real Sociedad in a cut-price deal (Fresh Arsenal). Arsenal have the option to sign Griezmann’s teammate Carlos Vela for just €4million due to a buy-back clause. Soceidad are desperate to remove this clause from the Mexican’s contract, with several clubs willing to spend in excess of €20million for the forward. Arsene Wenger appears to be reluctant to bring back Vela though, but wants to take advantage of the buy-back clause the Gunners have. Arsenal have a well-documented interest in Griezmann and it is thought the Gunners are trying to sign the French forward for just €16million, if they remove the clause in Vela’s contract.

Cardiff City stopper David Marshall could be heading to Arsenal for £6million this summer (The Sun). I’ve said it before that Marshall would be my favourite signing for this position. He is a quality keeper and he and Szczesny were probably the best keepers in the league last season. I don’t however see him wanting to play second fiddle to Szczesny and this could be a sticking point. It’d be hard for him to turn down Arsenal though, surely?

Arsenal are one of eight Premier League clubs interested in signing Ashley Cole (Express). I don’t want Ashley Cole back, we don’t need Ashley Cole back and yes, don’t come back Ashley Cole. I can see why clubs want him, he is still a quality player even at 33 and is also homegrown. We have Monreal and Gibbs and I can’t see either player leaving Arsenal this summer so there would be no need for a third left-back.

Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger is considering James Milner as a surprise replacement right-back for Bacary Sagna (Telegraph). This could be a decent move from Arsene. I think Milner is a good player, if both Aurier and Milner were signed it would allow Jenkinson to be loaned out and Aurier and Milner provide extra cover to the heart of the defence, and all around the midfield. Milner would be an excellent signing for the squad, and a homegrown player. He wants out – £10million could do it.
