Hated Former Arsenal Star ‘Regrets Leaving The Club’

Following his controversial move from Arsenal back in 2009, Emmanuel Adebayor has admitted he made a mistake in leaving the club.

The former Gunner forced his way out of the squad in search of a big money move to Manchester City, who were in the early stages of recruitment following their takeover.

Since then the striker went on to play for Arsenal’s North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur whilst causing friction with his old supporters during several returns to the Emirates.

And in his most recent return to the stadium that arguably made him the player he was, the 32-year-old revealed that he would have done things differently if he was given the chance.

For me, at the end of the day I have to be happy about where I came from and what I have become today. I have to forget about all of the haters.

All the Arsenal fans boo me and when I look back I understand where everything went wrong but there are certain things in life you cannot come back to anymore, you just look at it and say ‘okay I made a mistake’.

We all do things at some stage of our lives that we are not supposed to do but the most important thing is to keep moving.

Adebayor faced an almighty roar of abuse with his every touch after being substituted on for Crystal Palace during the 1-1 draw on Sunday, evidence to suggest the supporters will never forgive him.

He was one of many to quit the side in favour of a better financial package, but he wasn’t done there and during his first match against the Gunners decided to cement his position as public enemy number one.

Many of us won’t be able to forget that celebration after the Togo international ran the length of the pitch to boast in front of his old fans.

But it seems justice came to haunt him a few years later where he became isolated in the Spurs squad following a failed loan spell to Real Madrid.

He then ended up in the headlines for all of the wrong reasons, racking up a ridiculous amount of wages without even kicking a ball for over a year.

His form is now being tested under Alan Pardew who took a gamble on the striker, which at this moment in time isn’t paying off.

The forward has picked up just seven appearances since his January move, scoring just one goal in the process so it may seem as if the Arsenal supporters may have the last laugh.

As for accepting the strikers apology, it will be a long time before the fans are ready to forgive.
