Arsenal will welcome a Tottenham Hotspur side are who are brimming with confidence at the moment, following a series of impressive results.
The North London side have lost just once in the Premier League this season, and following the midweek result against Anderlecht, are pushing on in their Europa League group.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side are now fully focused on Sunday’s game, and unlike the Gunners have plenty of options in the squad to react to any situation.
The clubs 2014/15 player of the season, Harry Kane, has picked the right time to find his form and following five goals in his last three games is raring to go.
After what was a shaky start from the Englishman, his hat-trick at Bournemouth was enough to get him another call-up to the international squad and spur on a run of form.
Kane grabbed a goal against Aston Villa last weekend and opened the scoring during his sides 2-1 victory over Anderlecht on Thursday night.
However, despite the impressive showings from the striker, the club failed to look convincing in their performances before the talisman started hitting the back of the net.
Spurs have picked up five draws in their last ten games, and have been criticised for failing to finish the job after their defence stayed strong throughout the majority of fixtures.
They picked up a shock 4-1 victory over Manchester City in what was their best performance of the season so far, and every other win has been against struggling sides.
Therefore it’s hard to judge what sort of form Spurs are actually in, and they struggled to close the job against Aston Villa last weekend despite what the scoreline might say.
Having said all of this though, the North London rivals are maintaining their points tally well and currently sit in 5th place in the Premier League.
Victory for the away side would put them just two points off of the Gunners, and then we’d have to start talking about them being title contenders for a couple of weeks.
But with all jokes aside this is now a Tottenham side that look better equipped than any other season to get a long awaited win at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal have got nine first team players out of this one and very little attacking presence on the bench, so if they’re going to win this one it’ll have to be done with the starting eleven.
For those reasons alone it’s going to be a different type of derby this weekend, but if Tottenham don’t step up their game they will definitely meet their match.
