With the arrivals of Alexis Sánchez, Mathieu Debuchy, David Ospina and Calum Chambers, Arsene Wenger is undoubtedly on the brink of completing one of the greatest transfer windows in the club’s history.
However, the Frenchman’s work is far from finished, and there is every chance the Arsenal faithful will see one or two more additions before the window closes.
Here are the five players I’d like to see Arsenal target before the 31st of August:
1 – Edinson Cavani

Although I’m one of the fans that rates Olivier Giroud extremely highly, I’d still like to see us bring in one top quality centre-forward if the opportunity arises.
Giroud is without a doubt one of the best strikers in Europe when playing with his back to goal. His flicks, layoffs and intricate one-twos are outstanding, and contributed to the majority of our goals last season. However, when facing towards goal, Olivier is below par. The Frenchman can’t run with the ball, and struggles with his passing unless it’s one touch.
This is where Cavani comes in. The 27-year-old boasts a similar physique to Giroud, but his style is very different. Edinson likes to run with the ball and take on defenders. His finishing is exquisite and he has a strong desire to drive into the box and blast any loose balls into the back of the net. The Uruguayan has the mindset of a poacher, and you would expect him to score 25+ goals each season if he was deployed in the centre of our forward line. Cavani’s goal scoring consistency combined with Giroud’s creation skills would help contribute to a fantastic toolbox of forwards that Wenger could rotate depending on our opposition.
It would take more than £40 million to persuade PSG to sell the player, but that’s not a problem for the cash-rich Gunners.
