Rio Ferdinand has talked up Danny Welbeck in an interview with The Sun. Webeck’s former teammate suggested Manchester United were ‘mad’ to sell him, especially to Arsenal. He also said the 23-year-old had ‘everything’.
“I cannot believe United let Danny go, especially to Arsenal, that seems mad to me.
“He’s a real threat to defenders and, if Arsenal use him right, he will be very dangerous for them. That will be good news for England, too, because if he is playing regularly that has to benefit the national team.

Ferdinand, who trained with Welbeck day in day out for years, suggested that we are yet to see the best from Welbeck:
“Danny has everything to be a top player. English football has yet to see what he can really do because he hasn’t been getting a run of games.
“At Arsenal he will be the main man and I have no doubt he will flourish. Imagine the pace Arsenal will have when everyone is fit.”
He makes a point. Often last year, our attack was very slow. Now we could potentially play Walcott, Alexis and Welbeck as a front three, with the likes of Chamberlain deeper in midfield. That’s a fearsome looking front three, and between them they will score plenty of goals I’m sure. Alexis and Welbeck are hard workers too, so pressing from the front is going to be something Arsenal can now implement.
It’s nice to see someone like Rio Ferdinand talk up Welbeck and it’s exciting. He clearly knows he’s got a lot more to give, and with more chances as the main striker, I’m also convinced he will be a hit for Arsenal.
