Yet again Arsenal crashed out of the last 16 in the Champions League, but boy did all the Arsenal players do us proud. I don’t care what negativity anyone has to say! Arsenal deserved to go through to the next round after tonight’s performance even though they couldn’t find that elusive third goal.
By the end of the match I was crying like a baby (last time Arsenal made me cry was when we won the FA Cup in the 2013/14 season, though that was more of a trickle than a torrent). Who’d have thought they would fight so hard to go forward to the quarter finals?
Unfortunately with an aggregate score of 3-3 it was Monaco who progressed to the away goal rule. Oliver Giroud and Aaron Ramsey each scored a blinding goal but in my eyes it’s the whole team who will come back to London heroes of the night. Better luck next year lads!
Here are the reactions from the fans, albeit heroic from both sides of the coin:
Well played lads! Great performance. Shame about the 1st leg! The heroic losers go out again! Keep your heads high! #COYG #AFC

As expected #afc win 2-0 in Monaco and go out of the #UCL on away goals with a heroic performance. Shame it was too little too late.

Yet another near heroic win for Arsenal after leaving themselves with too much to do after the first leg of a last 16 CL tie #NotEnough #AFC

The good news is this heroic exit can give us the confidence to seal chmpns league next season, where we can expect another heroic exit #afc

Had far too much to do following the first leg, inexcusable disaster at the Emirates. As expected heroic failure from Arsenal yet again #AFC

Heroic defeat is overrated #AFC #ChampionsLeague

A Sky sports presenter just used the term ‘heroic’ to describe Arsenal tonight. Whats heroic about going out to Monaco over 2 games? #AFC

#AFC should stop embarrassing themselves with this heroic failure garbage. This was a tie they were favourites for and they blew it. #MONvAFC
