Debuchy NOT Ruled Out For 2 Months – Here’s The Real Injury Update

Mathieu Debuchy suffered a worrying looking injury on Saturday as Arsenal drew 2-2 with Manchester City.

The Frenchman was withdrawn and replaced by Calum Chambers with minutes to go and many were concerned about how long he’ll be out for. A report from France suggested he will be out for 2 months, but a post from Debuchy’s official Facebook page shows that we will not know the extent of his injury until Monday.

His post was reassuring, as there is obviously no fracture. Unless there is ligament damage, that rules out any long term injury. Since arriving from Newcastle for £10million, Debuchy has been very solid for the Gunners and one of the better performers this season. It’ll be a real blow for him to be out for a long time, especially with games against Dortmund, Galatasary, Tottenham and Chelsea coming up. We need all the defensive quality we can get, after a start to the season which has yet to see the Gunners pick up a clean sheet in the Premier League’s opening four games.

If he does end up being sidelined for more than a couple of weeks, Arsene Wenger will be hugely concerned. With Chambers being needed at right back, there will be no back up centre back. The likes of Hector Bellerin and Isaac Hayden will be needed, at least from the bench.
