Swansea City have successfully signed former Arsenal goalkeeper, Josh Vickers, after impressing on a recent trial period.
The 19-year-old was released by the club at the beginning of July, after failing to convince Arsene Wenger he had a future with the Gunners.
And now Vickers has followed in the footsteps of Arsenal goalkeeping coach, Tony Roberts, who joined the Welsh side back in June.
That, for many reasons is why the youngster has linked up with Gary Monk’s side, with the English youth international looking to reunite with some familiar faces.
Joining Roberts on the list of former Gunners is Lukasz Fabianski, who is currently operating as Swansea’s number one man between the sticks.
And after the club confirmed the signing of Vickers on a long-term contract today, he maintained his ambitions to get going early on.
I’m really pleased to have signed my contract with the club,” said Vickers, who has been on trial at Swansea.
It’s going to be great to work with Tony and Lukasz again and everyone has welcomed me really well.
Vickers is expected to begin his development in the Under-21’s, with his aim to get regular minutes now being met, something Arsenal couldn’t provide with the amount of competition for the gloves.
