2. Wayne Rooney
The man who needs no introduction to Arsenal fans will be looking to add to his collection of goals in the Premier League against the Gunners.
At 12 goals, he currently stands as the player who has scored the most against us since joining Everton, and he’ll be more than keen to add to that when the two sides meet on Monday night.
But Rooney hasn’t exactly had it easy in 2015, after he failed to grab a goal or assist since the year began until last week against Sunderland, where a penalty and tap in left the striker brimming with confidence again.
Playing against Rooney will be a little different to normal, after new boss Van Gaal decided he’s best suited sat back in the centre of midfield. Arsenal must be aware of his willingness to get into the box, and it will be Coquelin who is dealing with his low sweeping, power drive shots that will inevitably cut across Wojech Szczesny.
Much like our man Alexis Sanchez, Rooney has found his feet again and that spells danger for an Arsenal side who have looked shaky at the back towards the end of games. Since being given the captaincy, Rooney seems to play with a different attitude, and that means he won’t stop until the final whistle has gone, so we can’t afford to have a repeat of recent fixtures, where Mertesacker has fallen asleep too soon.
