In an interview with The Telegraph earlier this week, Arsenal defender Ainsley Maitland-Niles appeared to be unsure over his Arsenal future and was seeking clarity.
“I want a decision. I want some clarity. I would like some kind of indication of what is happening. Where they [Arsenal] see me. If it works out it works out, if it doesn’t then kiss Arsenal goodbye.” said Maitland-Niles.
Now, according to Chris Wheatley of Football.London, Crystal Palace are amongst the clubs monitoring the players situation. This seems like a realistic destination. It would allow for the player to stay in the Premier League and in London.
Palace have released a number of players this summer and look set to rebuild a squad under a new manager. Versatile Maitland-Niles would be a useful piece to add to their new setup.
West Ham have also been linked with the player, who turns 24 in August. Arsenal should not have a problem is securing at least £15million for him. If the Gunners don’t intend to integrate him into their squad, it seems the right time to sell.
Interest is high from other Premier League clubs and it could provide Arsenal with a good opportunity to reinvest funds generated into a new central midfielder and right back, that Mikel Arteta feels are good enough for the first team.
