It’s been a good month for Kieran Gibbs. He was called up to the national team and score his first goal for over a year against Anderlecht. His lovely volley and neat cross helped Arsenal overturn a 1-0 deficit in Brussels and win the game on Wednesday night.
Wenger was full of praise for his left back: “He is consistent and he is more determined in the fights and more confident on the ball”

Wenger also said in his press conference that the defence needed more time to adjust to each other: “We improve by getting everyone to put more effort into the defensive work. The defence need to get used to playing together”

Gibbs has certainly gone from strength to strength this campaign. He’s one of Arsenal’s most consistent performers and it is essential he stays fit. With Mathieu Debuchy and Laurent Koscielny out for the foreseeable future, Arsenal’s defence is truly down to it’s bare bones.
Gibbs turned 25 last month, but injuries have restricted his career. He really looks like a man and not a boy now, with a lot more upper body strength and more composed on the ball. I hope Gibbs can stay fit and continue to impress this season.
