Arsenal have managed to secure another departure this week as Mikel Arteta continues to trim his squad ahead of the window closing on September 1st.
The latest name on the outgoings list is Pablo Mari, who will join Serie A side AC Monza on a season-long loan which includes an obligation to buy if they avoid relegation.
Romano stated that Monza have managed to reach a full agreement with the Gunners and have secured one of their priority defensive targets in the 28-year-old.
It’s reported by Di Marzio that Arsenal would pocket a measly €5m if AC Monza do manage to avoid the drop, a fee that is hard to increase given Mari would only have one year left on his Arsenal contract.
After finishing fourth in Serie B in the 2021/22 season, AC Monza are the new boys on the block in Serie A but also one of the favourites to go straight back down.
Experienced additions like Mari will be welcome news for the Italian side as remarkably he becomes their 19th signing of the summer as they look for a complete rebuild.
The defender was desperate to return to play in Italy’s first division after a successful spell with Udienese last year, which all but confirmed his Gunners future was over.
Arsenal will now look to continue their season with four recognised centre backs to choose from in Ben White, William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes and Rob Holding.
