Arsenal are expected to announce the signing of summer-long target Shkodran Mustafi on Friday after his agent confirmed he had agreed terms to join the Gunners.
The 24-year-old’s transfer has been edging closer throughout the week, but in a bid to end speculation Ali Bulut confirmed his client is happy with the terms offered by the North London club.
The update has come thanks to an interview between Bulut and German website Spox, and after another day of negotiating with Valencia over the fee, an announcement is imminent.
Shkodran and Arsenal have an agreement. We only need the clubs to agree on a transfer fee.
Despite the good news surrounding the Gunners camp, a fee can often be the toughest thing to agree on, and Valencia are holding out for every penny in this deal.
Mustafi already has a £42million release clause but it’s thought the La Liga side are willing to let their star centre back walk through the exit door for just short of £30million.
Standing as an important cog in the German national teams defence, Mustafi is already good friends with Mesut Ozil and Per Mertesacker, making the switch a lot more inviting than competitors Chelsea.
However, although he has a close relationship with the BFG the chances of playing alongside him look slim this season, with the 31-year-old expected to re-join the squad in February 2017.
Mustafi will instead get to grips with the rock that is Laurent Koscielny, whilst Rob Holding and Calum Chambers are also in the hierarchy to compete for a place.
One thing is for sure though, this transfer is imminent and we can expect an official announcement from Arsenal at some stage on Friday providing a medical is successfully completed.
