The agent of Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski has confirmed that his client will leave the Emirates Stadium this summer.
German World Cup winner Podolski is rumoured to be on the verge of a €4m switch to Galatasaray, where he will be made the Turkish club’s highest paid player, after his future at Arsenal was brought to an end.
Podolski spent the last six-months of the season on-loan at Inter Milan, which was largely unsuccessful, and his agent Nassim Touihri confirmed to Bild that the 30-year-old would leave due to lack of first-team football:
“We had good talks with Wenger. He wanted to keep Lukas at Arsenal but could not guarantee him a starting position. That’s why we agreed to make a transfer.”
Galatasaray sporting director Cuneyt Tanman confirmed earlier this week that the club were pursuing the former Bayern Munich and FC Koln forward, with an official completion expected to go through early next week.
