Reports suggest that officials from the Gunners will travel to Argentine next Thursday, April 9th, to complete the deal with Velez.

The deal will likely see the 16-year-old stay where he is for the time being, continuing his development, before a high-profile move to North London later down the line.

Velez will also get a percentage of any future sale that Arsenal negotiate, in what is a deal with long-term benefits for the South American side.

Romero recently played behind closed doors against Old Boys and impressed vastly, scoring two goals, and it is claimed he will join up with the first-team for the upcoming game against Boca Juniors.

The player only turned 16 at the beginning of January and is attracting vast interest from the continent, although it looks like Arsenal have now jumped to the front of the queue.

South American reports claim a recent bid of around £2m was turned down but the Gunners returned with a lucrative and much more pleasing second offer.
