Chilean Forward Tells Family He’s Joining Arsenal, Will Have Medical On Tuesday

Arsenal are set to sign another Chilean striker in Eduardo Vargas, according to reports originating from Chile.

The reports suggest that Vargas will initially join Arsenal on loan, with a view to a permanent deal later. The paper says the Chilean forward told his family on Friday that he would be joining the Gunners.

A loan deal makes sense. Vargas has huge potential but is yet to fulfil it so it might turn out badly if we spent big money on him. Rafa Benitez is thought to be unconvinced and that’s why Napoli are allowing him to leave on loan.

Vargas turns 25 in November and has managed 15 goals in 32 appearances for his national team Chile. He spent last season on loan at Valencia, scoring six goals in 17 appearances. He is versatile and can play on either wing or through the middle.

If Vargas does sign, it will likely mean the end for Lukas Podolski, who is already being crowded out with the addition of Joel Campbell. Vargas would add extra firepower to Arsenal’s attack and on Saturday’s showing, that may well be needed if the Gunners want to win the league.

Arsene Wenger has been a fan of the player since 2011 according to reports so a move makes sense. Vargas is a very good dribbler of the ball and has a good final ball.
