2. Danny Ings
He’s had a tough old time of late, but fresh from opening his Premier League account last weekend Danny Ings will be looking to find his old self again.
He was voted Championship player of the year by his peers last season, and it was well deserved. Like Arfield, little was expected of him going into our promotion campaign. He’d only scored a couple of goals in his entire Burnley career previously, and never had anything like a run of form.
Paired with new partner Sam Vokes, though, he looked a different man last term. He was absolutely phenomenal. His intelligence, skill, movement, finishing and just general swagger were a joy to behold.
He ended the season as our top scorer, despite a barren patch that lasted for most of the campaign’s final third. That poor form extended to this season, and he’s been uncharacteristically quite on the whole.
He’s very much a confidence player, though, and after grabbing his first goal of the season against Everton – and what an excellent goal it was, too – he will have that fire in his belly, the desire and belief to go and get more.
