2 – Giroud Joins The 100 Club
At times it felt like we’d never see the beautiful Frenchman reach triple digits but thanks to some unselfish behaviour by Theo Walcott, tonight was the night!
Giroud tucked home a confident penalty for Arsenal’s fourth goal of the evening and celebrated in a cold as ice manor after joining an elite list of names to score 100 goals for the club.
Under Arsene Wenger, Giroud has become only the fifth player to achieve that milestone and now has Theo Walcott, Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Robin van Persie for company.
Olivier Giroud’s 100 goals broken down:
Inside the box: 96
Outside the box: 4
Right-footed: 10
Left-footed: 59
Headers: 31
Penalties: 6 pic.twitter.com/2XdKqGMsCX— Fresh Arsenal (@Fresh_Arsenal) September 28, 2017
That’s right, in 238 games the man that cost just £12million has finally reached a huge personal target and has managed to do it in one less match than van Persie (which is always a bonus I guess).
A staggering 27 of those goals have come from off of the bench, and I’d love to be able to find a stat for just how many points his goals have won us over the years.
He truly is one of the most underrated strikers in the Premier League and hopefully this can give him an extra boost to take his first team place back from Lacazette.
