He may not have been officially unveiled yet, but Cohen Bramall is already making a name for himself after sealing what he see’s as a dream move.
The 20-year-old put pen to paper with the Gunners earlier this week, and recently joined Sky Sports News to talk about how the deal went down.
Bramall joins the club as a highly rated left-back, who has played across the country for several different non-league sides, including his former one, Hednesford Town.
Arsene Wenger has already likened his qualities to that of a young Ashley Cole, and following his £40,000 switch to the Emirates, Bramall is determined to repay his new boss.
I drove in and saw Arsenal Football Club, I was absolutely gobsmacked. It was like a dream. It was so weird.
I was with the first team. My eyes just lit up straight away. I had to do my job, I just played to the best of my ability.
He (Wenger) came up to me after the session and it was literally a ‘hi, nice to meet you. I like how you play’. It was amazing.
Over the next six months I’m going to work physically and mentally for pre-season and hopefully break into the first team.
Whilst it’s tempting to get over-excited about a new signing, I have to say Bramall looks like a dangerous little player when darting down the left hand side of midfield.
A lot of the reports surrounding the youngster have been positive and if he can now get up to the physical level required I’ve got no doubts he can make it into the Premier League.
Everything will be pretty mad for him right now, but if he can get working hard from the off he’s got a depth of thanks to show in the direction of Wenger, who’s snapped him up under the radar.
He’s English, he’s young, he’s exciting and most important he’s a player that we need in that position now that Nacho Monreal is starting to slip up on the regular.
Kieran Gibbs is likely to be Wenger’s new number one but according to reports he’s stalling over a contract extension due to being unsure whether he’ll be handed the game time promised.
