Arsenal are being linked with the signing of Lassana Diarra by the Express. The 29-year-old is a defensive midfielder and now a free agent.
A former Gunner, Diarra has played for some of Europe’s biggest clubs and is now on the lookout for a new team. His contract with Lokomotiv has ended and he almost joined QPR on deadline day.
He can play as a right back also, which may influence Arsene Wenger’s decision as to signing him, considering Debuchy’s long term injury and Chambers being needed as a centre back. He’s strong and a player which Arsene Wenger likes, as he signed him back in 2007.
Is he better than Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini? If he got into shape then I think he probably is. He’s younger than both and has played at the likes of Chelsea and Real Madrid before. He’s a decent player with a good physical presence. Sign him up to a 1 year deal and I’d be happier than I am now.
We all wanted us to sign a world class defensive midfielder in the summer, but would you like to see Diarra arrive at this point? Would he want to return to the club that didn’t really give him a chance? Let us know your thoughts on this one by commenting below.
