Arsenal to make £22.5m bid for striker as possible Lacazette replacement

Arsenal are set to have an active few weeks in the transfer window after Mikel Arteta told press on Friday that the Gunners still had work to do in the market.

Arsenal attempts to improve their midfield options have been well documented, but it seems that the club are also looking to sign a new forward.

According to The Transfer Window podcast, Arsenal have increased their offer for Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard. The podcast reported last week of Arsenal’s interest in the French striker. They say that Arsenal have already had a £15million offer rejected. They have since increased this to a verbal offer of £20million + £2.5million in add ons, with the payment staged over four years. Celtic would like more of the money upfront and Arsenal are yet to formalise the offer.

Celtic have so far not included Edouard much in the current campaign as a move appears likely.

The Scottish Sun have also covered these reports and they suggest that Celtic value the forward at £30million.

Edouard is a product of the PSG academy and since joining Celtic in 2018, he has proven his quality. With 40 goals in 62 games for the Scottish outfit, the 6ft 2’ striker is both physically strong and deadly in front of goal. At just 22 years of age, the player has huge potential and there’s no surprise that Arsenal are interested.

It’s likely that Arsenal would need to sell a senior striker in order to make way for Edouard.

The same podcast suggests that Lacazette has been in talks with both Juventus and Atletico Madrid. They add that Arsenal are asking for €40million for Lacazette, who has just two years left on his contract. Arsenal also have interest in Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey, and so there could be scope for a deal there.
