Yaya Sanogo is set to join Crystal Palace on loan, despite interest from Hull City and Bordeaux.
Sanogo will join Palace on loan despite interest from Hull, which Steve Bruce admitted last week:
“It’s been made clear that the boy might be available on loan and it’s something we’ll have a look at” said Bruce.
You would expect Sanogo would get more game time at Palace over Hull, and Wenger did not want the youngster to return to Ligue 1 with Bordeaux.
Sanogo turns 22 at the end of this month and he needs to start featuring more regularly in order to develop into the best player he can. His only competitive goal for Arsenal came in the Gunners win against Borussia Dortmund in November. That goal was a massive moment not just for him but for Arsenal – it helped us ensure qualification from the group.
He has obvious raw ability but he needs to develop in order to become a regular player for Arsenal.
It’s clear Wenger rates Sanogo very highly, it will be interesting to see how well the Frenchman does when he is playing more regularly at a Premier League club. Hopefully he can keep his fitness whilst on loan, as that has been a major obstacle in his development.
