Arsenal will face a fight to keep hold of one of their most important players this summer, according to one of the latest reports in the media.
The Daily Mail’s Simon Jones has stated that Danny Welbeck is being lined up by Turkish heavyweights, Galatassary, who are desperate to add to their attack.
It’s still early days but it looks as if the Super Lig champions want to add something new to their ranks and are ready to offer £16million for the striker.
Welbeck has had hot and cold spells since returning from a nine month absence, and is yet to prove he’s the cutting edge striker Arsenal need to win silverware.
Despite that, the 26-year-old is a fan favourite at the Gunners and nobody wants to see him leave on the cheap, especially after two lengthy spells on the sidelines.
Welbeck was responsible for opening the scoring against Southampton in the FA Cup earlier this year, and providing the match-winner during Wednesday’s 2-0 victory.
It doesn’t sound like much for a player that is yet to really prove himself in the Premier League, but Arsenal could be tempted to get their money back.
Arsene Wenger bought Welbeck from Manchester United two seasons ago for £16m, and are reportedly in the hunt to strengthen even further this summer.
With the ageing Olivier Giroud around for experience purposes and Alexis Sanchez capable of playing centre forward, the money from a Welbeck sale could help land someone like Alvaro Morata or Alexandre Lacazette.
