Arsenal are reigniting their interest in Monaco’s Champions League destroyer Geoffrey Kondogbia, according to French publication L’Equipe.
The Gunners were first linked with a then 20-year-old Kondogbia in the summer of 2013 but there were complications, as the player’s ownership at Sevilla was messy and complicated. In the end, he ended up moving to Monaco.
In his time at the French principality, Kondogbia has continued to rise and shown great talent. Despite being just 22, he also boasts experience having played for Lens, Sevilla and Monaco, as well as every French national level from U16 to the first-team.
Reports state the Gunners are amongst a number of interested parties from England and Spain, with Real Madrid also mentioned, but Los Blancos focus on Paul Pogba is good news for Arsenal.
Kondogbia certainly fits the Arsenal bill and would be exactly what the Gunners need if they are to challenge in the Premier League and Champions League next term. However, he’s unlikely to be a cheap deal.
Should Arsenal break the bank for Kondogbia? Or stick closer to home with Morgan Schneiderlin, or even keep faith in the impressive Francis Coquelin?
