Arsenal are reportedly readying a bid to sign Grzegorz Krychowiak from Sevilla this Summer despite dismissing the transfer back in January.

The Gunners looked set to seal a deal for the 26-year-old during the recent transfer window following months of speculation, but instead opted for Mohammed Elneny.

But although Arsene Wenger went for the Egyptian in a decision that has had several positive effects, he’s now prepared to go back in for Krychowiak.

Fresh Arsenal first reported on the Polish star joining the club back in August 2015, and following our research he looks to be a perfect replacement for some imminent departures.

Both Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini are set to pack their bags at the end of the season, and attention is already turning to who can step into their boots.

Step up Krychowiak, with 52 appearances in Spain’s top division and a wealth of international caps for Poland, he adds both experience and solidity to our defensive midfield.

But what makes him different to Elneny? The Reims midfielder is strong and it takes a heck of a lot to get through him, and unlike Elneny he stands as more of a rock.

Think of a younger Flamini or Gilberto, somebody who wasn’t standing for anything getting into our defence and would make whatever tackle to ensure of it.

Krychowiak is a great passer of the ball, but he often gets lured into taking too long to make the right ball, causing himself to back-track and go ball hunting a lot of the time.

At 6ft 1in he’s hardly a towering midfielder, but will certainly give us something extra when defending those tricky set pieces we often struggle with.

So when do we sign him? Well, this is where things get complicated because following his name being splashed across the papers, a wealth of top teams are also interested in the Pole.

Having seen him play on a regular basis, Pep Guardiola is a huge admirer of the player and is believed to want a huge reshuffle in midfield when he eventually moves to Manchester City.

Therefore, competition could play a big part in landing the midfielder but in our current situation, both financially and from what we’ve got in the squad, we can’t afford to miss out.

A new-look defensive midfield to start the 2016/17 campaign is exactly what the Gunners need, and Krychowiak can be the first piece in this puzzle.

It’s also good to know that a deal was very close to being completed in January, so we can be confident in the fact that he fancies a move to England’s top flight.
