Arsenal look like they are set to take their transfer spending up a level. That will begin with the arrival of Porto midfielder Fabio Vieira. The Portuguese 22-year-old is set to sign for £34.2million (BBC). This move has somewhat come out of the blue. The move has already been confirmed by FC Porto. So what type of player is Vieira? We took a closer look in our video below.
But Arsenal’s spending appears to just be getting started, with the signing of Viera set to be followed by Brazilian forward Gabriel Jesus. Jesus has long been linked as Arsenal’s leading striker target for the summer and now according to The Times, Arsenal are closing in on his signing. They say the Gunners have bid £30million, with Manchester City valuing him at £50million. A compromise seems likely to be reached. We’ve taken a closer look at how Jesus could fit in at Arsenal on our YouTube channel.
Arsenal also appear to be set to seal a deal for Belgian playmaker Youri Tielemans. A source close to the club told Fresh Arsenal that the signing of Vieira does not impact Arsenal’s pursuit of Tielemans, with the club still confident of sealing a deal for the Leicester man. This has been backed up by CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs who says the club remain confident of Tielemans signing.
And the Gunners also look set to sign up Eddie Nketiah, who officially was set to be released last week. The club though always noted they remained in talks with the English forward and according to the Evening Standard, the Gunners have agreed a new long-term contract for Eddie. Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has also confirmed this deal.
