Arsenal have tabled a €30million bid for William Carvalho according to OJogo in Portugal. The report states that the bid has been rejected as Lisbon want closer to his €45million (£35million) release clause.
Arsenal have been heavily linked with several central midfielders this summer, including the likes of Sami Khedira, Lars Bender and Morgan Schneiderlin. It is the first time the club has been linked with Carvalho this summer, with Manchester United normally the most interested, according to the press.
The strong midfielder had a good World Cup but was barely used due to the Portuguese managers reluctance to tinker with his side. With clear quality and at just 22 years of age, you can see why Arsenal are interested and especially when you note the fact that he can also play as a centre back.
