The weekend saw a debut for Baggies new boy, Serge Gnabry, who faced a tricky home tie against Chelsea to cope with during his first few moments back from injury.

There was also expectation of exciting prospect, Wellington Silva, featuring for his new side Bolton Wanderers, but the winger failed to feature in Neil Lennon’s squad.

And as many of the loanee’s begin to settle into their new clubs, there’s been some good and bad news for the Gunners spending time away from the Emirates this season.

Fresh Arsenal has wrapped up the lowdown from this weekends action to keep you in the know of all the details regarding our loan stars.

Wojciech Szczesny (Roma)

The Polish shot-stopper played the full 90 minutes as Roma kicked off their 2015/16 campaign with a 1-1 draw against Verona.

Szczesny played a big influence in what turned out to be a disappointing result for the away side, who are one of three teams to have already played a competitive match.

Since his move from the Gunners, the 25-year-old has fit straight in with his new side and spoke after the game of his desire to win a title with the Italian giants.

I don’t think it was our best game. We’re disappointed with the result because we want to challenge for the Scudetto this year and we have to be winning this kind of game. There’s a lot of room for improvement but I’m sure it will be better next week.

Szczesny will find out how his Roma team will get on in the Champions League group stage this week, but is unable to play against the Gunners if he is fortunate to get drawn against them.

Carl Jenkinson (West Ham United)

It was not the performance we’re used to seeing in a Hammers shirt for Jenkinson this weekend, as he was shown red during his sides 4-3 loss to Bournemouth.

The English Under-21 international was given his marching orders after bringing down Max Gradel in the box, which is now the Hammers fifth red card of the season.

Callum Wilson then struck home the penalty to hand him his first senior hat-trick and ensure all three points were heading home with the Cherries.

Regardless of his sending off, Jenkinson was poor throughout the game and it really wasn’t his day as Gradel ran riot down the left hand side of midfield.

The right-back will now face a one game suspension, meaning he will miss a massive away tie against Liverpool next Saturday afternoon.

Serge Gnabry (West Brom)

It was an impressive debut for the winger as his new Baggies side fell short of grabbing a point against Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.

Gnabry was introduced in the 78th minute of West Brom’s 3-2 loss to the reigning champions, and looked sharp during the short space of time he was handed.

The youngster pulled off three shots and ran riot over a shaky Chelsea back line, and it was good signs for Tony Pulis, who signed the German on loan after recovering from a long-term knee injury. He wasn’t at his best yet, with a few overcooked crosses.

Gnabry hasn’t featured in an Arsenal jersey since March 2014, but Sunday afternoon will no doubt have provided a positive bit of encouragement for Arsene Wenger.

Chuba Akpom (Hull City)

The striker failed to find his shooting boots as Hull City suffered their first loss of the season to an in-form Charlton side.

A last minute equaliser from Abel Hernandez looked to have wrapped up a point for The Tigers, but it was a stunning goal in the eighth minute of injury time that ensured Charlton won the game.

Akpom was replaced in the 64th minute by the goalscorer, Hernandez, and has now gone three games without finding the net following a brilliant start to life in the Championship.

However, the 19-year-old has the chance to repay the faith handed by Steve Bruce as his side face Rochdale in the second round of the League Cup on Tuesday evening.

Isaac Hayden (Hull City)

The Arsenal Under-21 captain featured as a second half substitute during that 2-1 loss to Charlton, and made a big impact.

In a change that is becoming regular under Steve Bruce, the young Englishman swapped with Tom Huddlestone to spark what looked like an equalising goal.

Hayden has been picking up regular minutes since his move from the Gunners, and it’s good to see Bruce using Akpom and Hayden at his full disposal.

Arsene Wenger will be watching this one very closely, as Hayden has been playing in the central defensive midfield position throughout his time at the Tigers.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles (Ipswich Town)

A second half appearance from the midfielder helped his side shoot to the top of the table, and maintain their unbeaten run in the 2015/16 campaign.

A magnificent strike from Ryan Fraser gave the away side a well deserved three points, as Maitland-Niles was substituted on shortly before the winning goal.

Mick McCarthy has assured that the youngster will definitely have a future with the Gunners, and the Championship manager is ensuring his development is progressing properly.

Maitland-Niles was initially brought on to play in the attacking midfield role, but after Ipswich grabbed their second he was thrown into the deep end to secure the win.

Jon Toral (Birmingham City)

Toral featured for the Midlands side on Friday evening as they were handed a cruel blow by Derby County in a game that finished 1-1.

The young midfielder was substituted after an impressive 67 minutes, as his side fell short to Johnny Russell’s second goal of the season.

Toral played in an advanced midfield position, whilst interchanging on the left wing to push on the attacking outlet that is in his locker.

Toral is currently the player on loan from Arsenal that is featuring most regularly with starting appearances, and he’s certainly providing Gunners fans with something to lay their eyes on.

Daniel Crowley (Barnsley)

Crowley played the full 90 minutes of Barnsley’s League One tie against Bradford, which ended in a stalemate 0-0 draw.

The 18-year-old picked up a first booking with his new side for a late challenge which nearly resulted in goal for the away side.

That’s Crowley’s first full game for Barnsley since joining nearly a month ago, so another positive update for the loan watch segment.

Yaya Sanogo (Ajax)

Sanogo failed to even make the squad list during Ajax’s 2-0 victory over NEC Nijmegen, as they moved straight to the top of the Eredivisie.

Arkadiusz Milik opened the scoring for the Dutch side, and a late own goal sealed all three points to hand them three wins from as many games.

Sanogo has had a tough start to life at his new side, and comments from Ronald de Boer stating he had “no qualities” was an immediate dampner on his short time at his new club.

The French striker will however have the chance to feature in this years Europa League after his new club failed to secure Champions League qualification.

Emiliano Martinez (Wolves)

Martinez also did not feature for his Wolves side after being replaced by Carlo Ikeme, the original man between the sticks at the northern club.

However, the Argentinian won’t be too fazed as his new side lost 2-0 to Cardiff City thanks to goals from Kenwyn Jones and Shola Ameobi.

Martinez found himself dropping to the bench after a poor performance against QPR that saw the former Premier League club come from 2-0 down to win 3-2.
