Jon Toral – Brentford
Jon Toral was given his first chance in the #10 role this season in Brentford’s 2-1 loss to Huddersfield Town. The Spaniard unfortunately was substituted off after 52 minutes for Stuart Dallas.
Benik Afobe – MK Dons
Coming off a hat trick against Colchester, Afobe was given a bit of a rest and did not start in MK Dons’ 1-0 win over Sheffield United but came on in the 55th minute for Ben Reeves. Afobe played 90 in The Dons’ 1-0 loss to Chesterfield in the FA Cup.
Ryo Miyaichi – FC Twente
Ryo Miyaichi was unable to make the match day squad in FC Twente’s draw to Vitesse.
Francis Coquelin – Charlton Athletic
The Frenchman has actually been on loan at Charlton Athletic since the beginning of November. In November he came on as a sub in his first two games – a 2-2 draw to Leeds and 1-0 win over Reading – but started in his next two – a 0-0 draw to Millwall and a 1-0 loss to Ipswitch Town.
This past week, Coquelin was given his third start in a row in Charlton’s 1-1 draw to Nottingham Forest.
Carl Jenkinson – West Ham United
Carl Jenkinson is still keeping his fine form up and giving up his starting spot in the West Ham side. In West Ham’s 2-1 win over West Bromwich Albion, Jenkinson had a more defensive game. He completed a dreadful 50% of his passes, 0/2 in the offensive third, but he was excellent defensively completing 1 interception 2 blocks, 7/7 clearances, and committed 2 fouls.
In the 3-1 win over Swansea, the England international showed the other side of his game: Offense. Most of his passes that were attempted in the attacking third, completed 40% of his crosses, created three chances, and assisted one of Andy Carroll’s goals
