Arsenal seem to have upped their interest in signing a striker this summer, with two more linked in the Sunday papers.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been heavily linked with Arsenal all summer – and the links continue this weekend, despite Dortmund insisting he is going nowhere.
The clubs CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke told Bild on Sunday: “Auba stays with us. He is not for sale”. Dortmund may well be tempted by a bid of around £30million, though. It would give them a huge profit on the Gabonese striker and allow them to strengthen in other areas.
The other striker to be linked is Edin Dzeko. Manchester City appear to be looking to offload the Bosnian who has proven in Germany and England to be a top level player. Their reported asking price of £16million would represent good value in my opinion – and I would be happy to welcome him to the club.
The bad news is he can only play centre forward, but I’d be more confident with him leading the line than Aubameyang to be honest, he suits our team more and at half the price is worth it.
Meanwhile it looks like another reported target, Alexandre Lacazette will not be leaving Lyon this summer, with the French club confident he will sign a new deal with the Ligue 1 club.
Karim Benzema remains a target for the Gunners, but they are yet to receive confirmation of his availability and may look elsewhere if that uncertainty continues for much longer as Wenger looks to get his squad ready for the Community Shield tie against Chelsea at the start of August.
