Arsenal have made an approach for young Boca Juniors forward Jonathan Calleri, according to reports in Spain, and the 21-year-old is considering a transfer.
Reports state that Arsenal are the latest club to show their intentions to bring the talented South American forward to European football, following Inter Milan, Villarreal and Valencia.
Callerri, who has scored ten goals in 26 appearances this season, is now said to be considering his options ahead of making a decision this summer.
Arsenal are believed to have been following Callerri for a while and want him to bolster the club’s attacking options, with Lukas Podolski set to depart and Joel Campbell possibly following suit.
The form of Olivier Giroud may have led to Arsenal needing interest in a ‘world-class’ forward and instead, the Gunners could now be targeting support for the French striker.
Whilst it is early stages, Arsenal’s interest seems genuine and the player now has a difficult decision to make- though he could be influenced by compatriot Luciano Vietto, who has enjoyed a tremendous breakthrough season with Villarreal after moving to Europe.
Vietto is now tipped to leave the Yellow Submarines and Callerri could be seen as his replacement for the Spanish Champions League hopefuls.
