It’s no secret that Arsenal are rocking in the Premier League right now, and if things weren’t exciting enough on the pitch, they’re about to get even better off it.
That’s because reports from France are breaking out the news that a trio of Gunners have successfully negotiated long-term extensions with the North London side.
RMC Sport, a trusted French publication, state that Olivier Giroud, Laurent Koscielny and Francis Coquelin have all put pen to paper on a new deal.
We gave you the news regarding Koscielny’s future a few weeks ago, and now it looks more certain than ever that these three key first team players will be sticking around for a lot longer.
Giroud (30) is due to stay until 2019, giving him three more years at the highest level of football, whilst Coquelin (25) has committed to at least five more years at Arsenal.
Doubts were raised over the impact Wenger’s future would have on players’ decision to extend their contracts, but it looks as if their love for the club has shone through.
One thing is for sure, if Wenger does pack his bags at the end of the season then we’ve got a grounded squad that any manager can come in and perform well with.
Meanwhile Koscielny looks to be sticking around until 2020, and at 31 he’ll be set to close out his career at the Emirates, a touching thought considering what he’s given for this team.
As well as having depth in three key areas for years to come, the benefit of having experienced heads around the club is something you can rarely put a price on.
We’re now into an era where the likes of Mertesacker and Cech are passing down their knowledge of the game to a thriving set of youngsters in the Under-23 squad.
