Two Arsenal players have been named in Marca’s European young team of the season.
The first is 20 year old Hector Bellerin, as the Spanish media continue their obsession with the Spaniard. Bellerin has endured an excellent breakthrough season which has seen him start most games in the second half of the season.
Bellerin will battle Mathieu Debuchy for a first team berth next season, with many thinking the former already has the edge on the ageing French full back.
Francis Coquelin also makes the cut for Marca. The Frenchman was a central figure in helping Arsenal win the FA Cup and securing a third placed finish.
24 may seem a bit old for someone to get into the young team of the season, but this recognition helps give Coquelin the credit he deserves for an excellent breakthrough campaign. Remember, he was playing Championship football for Charlton just before Christmas.
Tottenham’s Harry Kane and Everton’s John Stones were the only other Premier League players to be included in Marca’s XI. Arsenal target Nabil Fekir was also included.
