Egyptian winger Ahmed Fathi has been unsuccessful in his Arsenal trial and will return to Egypt in the next few days after his club confirmed his trial with the Gunners had come to an end.
Arsene Wenger is a long term admirer of the 29-year-old winger who can also play at right back. He was offered the chance to train with the club, with a view to securing a dream contract for the player. However his current club have confirmed the trial has been unsuccessful:
“Fathi confirmed in a telephone call that he will return to Egypt to extend his stay with team after finishing a trial with Arsenal,” Abdel-Sadeq told Al-Ahram Arabic news website on Sunday.”
The 29-year-old winger’s contract with Ahly expires this summer, but the club are hoping he now signs a contract extension.
