Confirmed Arsenal XI To Play Galatasaray: Campbell And Debuchy Start!

Arsenal are set to heavily rotate their squad against Galatasaray as the games result appears to be nearly meaningless with Dortmund all but certain to top the group.

Calum Chambers and Per Mertesacker are likely to continue at centre-back despite their poor showing on Saturday, but with Laurent Koscielny and Nacho Monreal injured – it leaves the Gunners with little choice.

Maitland-Niles started his career on the wing, but this season has developed into a deeper central midfield position. Last month he scored a spectacular goal for the under 21’s, winning the ball in midfield and then curling in from 30 yards. It would be great to see him get a chance. He could perhaps play the holding position in a 4-1-4-1 and allow Ramsey and Cazorla to continue at the heart of the midfield.

Chamberlain and Sanchez have been doing well on the wings but Joel Campbell and Lukas Podolski deserve a chance to succeed at Arsenal before they are inevitably moved on at the end of the season. I am particularly intrigued to see how the Costa Rican performs in this game, as he has some good qualities which might make him valuable to the Arsenal squad in the long-term.

With Olivier Giroud ineligible for the tie, Danny Welbeck is expected to lead the line with Chuba Akpom and Yaya Sanogo on the bench. I’d like to see Welbeck start, although I think Wenger will opt for Sanogo.

I think it’s fair to say that this is a pretty weak team, but it will give the fans a chance to see how some of the squad players can perform in a game that is pretty worthless otherwise.
