With many injury problems the team that Arsenal put out against Hull will be nowhere near full strength. A couple of youngsters may have to come in for their Premiership debuts, and it could prove to be a nervy afternoon for the depleted Gunners side.
GK: Wojciech Szczesny – The obvious choice. He was outstanding against Germany on international duty and will hopefully continue his form.
RB: Hector Bellerin – With Debuchy out injured and Chambers suspended, Bellerin is going to have to come in at right-back. He did ok on his first start against Dortmund a few weeks ago and is a very promising talent. Being next to Mertesacker at the heart of defence should give him confidence and I have no qualms with the Spaniard starting.
CB: Per Mertesacker – The only fit first-team centre-back we have. A big performance is needed from him to help out the inexperience that matt be playing next to him.
CB: Isacc Hayden – Monreal or Hayden? A very hard choice, but Hayden is a proper centre-back. as experienced as Monreal is, he really doesn’t suit playing in the heart of defence and I think the Gunners will be better off playing Hayden.
LB: Kieran Gibbs – Has been outstanding this season. Hopefully he can stay injury free, and continue his fine form.
CDM: Mathieu Flamini – After recent criticism he has played very well recently. He’ll have his work cut out tomorrow though, and will have to screen the defence to the best of his abilities.
CM: Jack Wilshere –Â Off the back of two MOTM performances for England, Jack should be on a high. He is finally showing the true class he has and will hopefully continue his form Vs Hull
CM: Santi Cazorla – With Ozil out, Cazorla’s role in the side is vital. He’ll be plying in his preferred position and will really need to link the midfield and attack against Hull. He has the quality to do it and hopefully he’ll show it.
RM: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – Another that has seemed to shake off injury problems recently, Chamberlain has been playing very well and will hopefully be a constant menace down Hull’s left side tomorrow.
LM: Alexis Sanchez – Sanchez has seemed to have settled in very well in North London. He has 5 goals to his name already and will need to put in another expert performance to enable Arsenal to get a result.
ST: Danny Welbeck – Looked leggy for England in the week, but has had a flying start to his Arsenal career. Looks ruthless in front of goal right now, and few would bet against him scoring tomorrow.
This is who I’d pick in the 11 tomorrow. What would your starting line-up be?
