Interesting Fact: Chambers joined Arsenal in August 2014. At the same time in 2013, he had just make his first league appearance.
Chambers spent 12 years at Southampton, with the majority of them being in the Saints highly-rated academy, before following in the footsteps of Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain by joining Arsenal as a teenager. Chambers spent just two years in the senior squad at Southampton before joining the Gunners and only made his league debut for the Saints on 17th August 2013.
How much will he play?
The young Englishman has already featured heavily this season in the absences of Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesaker, due to injuries and extended leave respectively. Chambers has featured in the Community Shield, Premier League and Champions League- impressing in all three competitions. However, when Koscielny and Mertesaker are both at full fitness he is likely to play second-fiddle.
However, with Arsenal’s crop of just six first-team defenders Chambers is likely to get plenty of game time. He arrived at the club as a right-back and could therefore feature in the position if Mathieu Debuchy is absent for any reason. He can also play in defensive-midfield and his versatility is likely to contribute towards plenty of first-team appearances this term.
How well will he do?
Chambers has already achieved rave-reviews at Arsenal since joining the club and is set for a bright future, after earning his first senior England call-up after just a handful of appearances for the Gunners. Chambers now represents part of the integral British core that runs through the spine of the team- which also includes Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck.
