Despite a tough trip to Munich just a few days before, Mikel Arteta trusted his squad – rewarding Mikel Merino, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Viktor Gyokeres, Ebere Eze and Ben White with starts – 5 changes.
The breakthrough came early, Arsenal finally scoring from a set piece, Ezri Konsa poking home. Arsenal were a bit wasteful for the next hours, but Gabriel then nodded in a Ben White cross to secure the points.

Man of the match: Gabriel. Our hearts were collectively in our mouths when he went down with what looked like a serious injury. Luckily, he was OK and scored the crucial second soon after. But aside from the goal, he was colossal
