Player ratings: Arsenal 1-1 Manchester United

Arsenal fell out of the FA Cup on Sunday evening after a 120-minute game ended with a penalty defeat.

Arsenal fell behind, with Bruno Fernandes scoring on the break, Manchester United taking advantage of a slip from Gabriel on the halfway line.

Diogo Dalot then saw red after a second bookable offence, and Arsenal quickly equalised with Gabriel’s shot deflecting in.

Martin Odegaard saw his penalty saved with a chance to put the tie to bed, which meant the game headed to extra time.

Arsenal then dominated the ball for the rest of the game and extra time, but the lacklustre finishing and lack of desire in the box meant nothing was going in.

It always felt likely, that Arsenal would lose on penalties if it got there, given the proceeding events. This was poor from players and manager, and the club too must now act given what’s happened in recent games.
