Report: Ligue 1 forward ‘likes Arsenal very much’ as Gunners hope to seal January deal

Arsenal are reportedly considering a move for Paris Saint-Germain forward Lee Kang-in, with the player said to admire the North London club.

According to journalist Matteo Moretto, the South Korean international has a strong interest in Arsenal, though no formal talks have taken place at this stage.

The Athletic reports that Arsenal’s potential interest hinges on PSG’s willingness to agree to a loan deal with an option to buy. Such an arrangement would align with Arsenal’s recent transfer strategy, providing flexibility. However, it raises questions about PSG’s motives for potentially allowing Lee Kang-in to leave. The 23-year-old has been a regular feature in PSG’s side this season, contributing with his creativity and technical skill. His performances have also caught the eye of fans and pundits, making the prospect of his departure somewhat surprising.

Despite this, Arsenal’s interest is unlikely to have emerged without some level of encouragement from PSG or the player’s camp.

Lee’s versatility and playmaking abilities could provide a fresh dimension to their attacking options, with his most common position at right-wing, somewhere Arsenal are struggling for players right now with Bukayo Saka and Ethan Nwaneri injured.

For PSG, allowing Lee to leave—particularly on loan—might indicate a focus on rebalancing their squad or financial considerations related to Financial Fair Play regulations. Alternatively, it could suggest the player himself is seeking a move to secure more prominence or a fresh challenge in a competitive league like the Premier League.

If Arsenal do pursue the deal, it would signal their ambition to enhance their squad depth and creativity in attack this month – something all fans are desperate to see.
