Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, looks set to finally depart the club this transfer window, with a clear inclination towards joining the Premier League rather than Paris Saint-Germain.
According to sources from Il Mattino (via calcionapoli24.it), Osimhen, 25, has attracted an offer from PSG. However, Saudi Arabian clubs are the only ones to have matched Napoli’s steep €120 million release clause – but the player does not want that move.
Arsenal have previously shown a keen interest in Osimhen, and after missing out on signing Benjamin Sesko, may consider a swoop.
The Gunners are now actively reassessing their options to bolster their attack. The club hopes to generate additional funds by selling Eddie Nketiah, which could help finance the acquisition of Osimhen.
A few months ago, Chelsea seemed to be leading the race for Osimhen, but financial regulations and the high asking price have deterred the West London club.
Despite PSG’s known interest, Osimhen appears determined to prove himself in the English Premier League, widely regarded as the world’s most competitive football stage.
Osimhen seems determined to leave Italy this summer, but Napoli may need to consider bids less than his release clause. Should that happen, Arsenal may swoop on the opportunity.
