Report: Arsenal Set To Land £50m Priority Transfer By 4th July

From the moment the final whistle blew at the Emirates Stadium on the final day of the season, we haven’t exactly been bored on Twitter.

And it now looks as if the Gunners are just days away from securing their number one target, Gabriel Jesus, following an exclusive report from Mike Keegan at the Daily Mail.

According to the report, Arsenal will pay Manchester City a total of £50m for the 25-year-old who has a contract expiring in the summer of 2023.

And whilst that may not seem like a huge update on what we know already, it appears there is now confidence from all parties that the saga is coming to an end, with it being a question more of ‘when’ not ‘if’.

Keegan detailed that the deal is expected to be wrapped up in the next 7-10 days, but this is purely down to the fact that Jesus is currently on a period of holiday due to featuring in games for Brazil recently.

The return date for all Arsenal players who featured on international duty is July 4th, which matches up perfectly with what Keegan is reporting.

That allows Arsenal time to get everything signed as well as an opportunity to complete Jesus’ medical at London Colney which will be followed by a photoshoot.

Annoyingly, Arsenal do things properly when it comes to transfers so it could be later in that week that we get an official announcement from the club.

Keegan’s report has been backed up by the reliable Chris Wheatley, who took to Instagram on Friday afternoon to outline Arsenal would pay a final fee of £45m plus add-ons.

Wheatley goes on to confirm that Edu has been involved in incredibly extensive talks with the players entourage and a regular starting role has been promised.

That feels like the important part here, where Jesus will be known as the star man up top and worshipped by the Arsenal fanbase, something that was not necessarily up for grabs at Tottenham or Chelsea despite the lure of Champions League football.

In fact, game time seems to be the main reason Jesus is looking for a new challenge, with the healthy competition of Eddie Nketiah ready to push the Brazilian for a starting spot.

Of course, we’ll keep our eyes peeled for any further updates and whenever we have something to report, you’ll find reaction and analysis available on our YouTube channel.
