Promising Youngster Tells Arsenal He Wants To Quit For €40m Move

Arsenal could look to cash in on one of their most promising young players this summer after the club held a meeting regarding the future of Matteo Guendouzi.

The 21-year-old found himself in hot water yet again this season, with his latest action of grabbing Neal Maupay by the throat ensuring Arsenal hit the headlines for all of the wrong reasons.

As well as that, the Frenchman was reported to mock other Brighton players on how much he was earning, and spent the majority of the game more worried about getting one up on the opposition.

Following Guendouzi’s complete omission from the squad that beat Southampton 2-0 on Thursday, Mikel Arteta told the press he and the club were dealing with the matter privately, as it was an internal issue that needed to be handled delicately.

This has led to a report from reliable French outlet, Le’Quipe via GFFN, who have stated that both parties are happy for his future to no longer sit with the Gunners.

According to the report, Guendouzi has told the club he would go quietly in the summer if that’s what was required of him, with many potential suitors knocking on the door.

Arsenal have apparently said they will let the midfielder go should the stars align and someone comes in with a bid of at least €40m, making sure they turn a significant profit on the youngster, who signed under Unai Emery back in 2018.

Everything points to this being a very real possibility, with Arteta having started Guendouzi in just four out of 12 league matches, where arguably two of those he didn’t really have a choice!

Guendouzi was in the press early on in Arteta’s reign, this time for having a bad attitude in training and consistently not listening to the head coaches instructions before and after matches.

With Euro 2020 set to be played next summer, it seems Guendouzi now has a very real chance of being a part of that squad, which may get dented should he continue to be cast into the shadows of Arteta’s squad.

Reports have linked Arsenal with a whole host of midfield replacements including Thomas Partey, whilst the incredibly reliable David Ornstein has reported Arsenal are actively looking to add a new central midfielder to their ranks.

There’s still enough games for Guendouzi to resurrect his position in the team, but you get the feeling there is one hell of a player inside that body, but will his behaviour cost him becoming one of the greats?
