Arsenal ‘Ready’ To Pay Release Clause To Sign La Liga Star

Arsenal are reportedly ready to make their first move in the winter market, according to reports in Italy and England.

TalkSport are one of a number of sources to recently report that the Gunners are ready to pay the £18million release clause of Ever Banega. Emery is a huge fan of the 30-year-old midfielder and with Aaron Ramsey and Mesut Ozil’s futures up in the air, the Gunners could benefit from an experience creative presence in the middle of the park.

Banega is best known for his creativity, but unlike Ozil, the Argentinean is also known for his tenacity and work-rate off the ball, something the Gunners are lacking between the lines currently.

Sources in Spain are already suggesting that Sevilla will move for Javier Pastore if Arsenal trigger Banega’s release clause. With such a cheap clause, all Emery and Arsenal need to do is convince the player to move, something which may not be too easy. With his family allegedly settled in Spain and the Spaniard competing for the Champions League and La Liga currently, it’s a tough sell to join the Gunners at the moment.

Fans may also prefer the club to be looking to strengthen other department before looking to add Banega. With a wide forward and central defender clearly lacking in this squad, who will Arsenal sign first in January?
