After two games of the season, Arsenal and Emery were already being written off by some. Eight games later, the Gunners have five Premier League wins on the bounce, a win vs. Brentford in the cup and two from two in the Europa League. Things are looking good with the Gunners now joint 4th and just 4 points off top spot in the Premier League, a place they would love to be by the end of the season.

Performances have been far from perfect, but Arsenal now have three clean sheets on the bounce, and the one defender who has impressed is consistently this season is Sokratis. The Greek stalwart also looks a bargain on Football Index currently – seemingly the clubs first choice central defender, he is capable of scoring goals as he showed with his game winning goal against Qarabag in the Europa League, winning star player and £0.18 in dividends, more than 10% of his price!

It’s also great to see Emery put his faith in academy products, with Alex Iwobi and Emile Smith-Rowe two of those to really impress in the early stages of the season. It’s nice that Emery has not changed too much yet and seemingly given everyone the chance to impress before he makes final decisions on players. The Spaniard will continue to mould the squad to his liking with more changes in January, I’m sure.

The Gunners aren’t playing incredibly at the moment, but they are finding ways to win and playing without fear. Those are important ingredients for a successful team.

Now seems a great time to take advantage of low player prices for Arsenal players on the index, especially after Sokratis success on Thursday. Not yet a member of Football Index? Sign up today and trade up to £500 risk-free for 7 days.
